I Am a Fan
I am an enormous fan
Of fairy tales and nursery rhymes
Of finding the magic lamp
And wishing fervently three times
I believe in the wishes I make
And in promises of forever
And people whispering I love you
And though others think it odd
I still have dreams of Old King Cole
Little Bo Peep and Little Boy Blue
And Cinderella’s sparkly glass shoe.
I dream of things that could be true
Of faraway beaches with sunny skies
And clear-to-the-bottom ocean waters
And me, relaxing, fit and tan
Surrounded by my sons and daughters
And all their families, wearing smiles
Enjoying the day, the beautiful weather
And so I weave my fanciful web
Ignoring the stacks of dirty dishes
Putting off doing a load of wash
Until I get my fairy tale wishes.
