Father Time

I can see Father Time
Standing over there
Giving me the eye
I really wish he would
Just leave me alone
Take his arctic glare and go
And hassle someone else
For at least a little while

Perhaps his icy stare
Is not cause for alarm
Maybe he just wants to
Ask me for the title
Of my favorite book
Or pay me a compliment
Tell me how pretty I look
And that he means no harm

Perhaps he wants to say
Sing all the sweet songs
And dance all the dances
Now while you can
Who knows what design
Tomorrow might engrave
Upon your lifeā€”so today
Smile, laugh, drink the wine
