Color Me
Color me red, passionate, on fire
But never forget that I shy away
From flames that consume and destroy
Color me the red of a cardinal in a tree
That once it catches your eye
It is the only thing you see
Color me blue, like sky or sea
A calm horizon between the two
Color me the blue of cornflowers
Or bluebells or Cinderella’s gown
Sparkling with the dust of stars
That have magically sprinkled down
Color me yellow, a shining circle
Like the way the sun appears
In the drawing of a child
Color me the yellow of a lemon
Or a cheerful buttercup in the grass
Small, beautiful, but not meant to last
