A Piece of My Mind

I found snippets of things I had written
Once upon a time
Words with no meaning for me now
As I sit and assemble a jigsaw puzzle
With the pieces of my mind

So, I take the snippets
And put them all together on one page
And shuffle them three times
This deck of random notions
These pieces of my mind

People ask me what I am doing
Giving me the eye
That tells me what they think of me
And of the game I play
With the pieces of my mind

But I know what to do
When assailed by these critics
I deal with them one at a time
By smiling and giving them
A piece of my mind
